We are a big fan of potato recipes on our site and this one has quickly become a favorite. It’s so creamy, cheesy and delicious topped with bacon! We love the versatility of this recipe because the toppings you love on a loaded baked potato is what makes this soup so good. It’s great for a crowd and you can set out all the different toppings.

You can swap out the cheddar cheese in this recipe for any your family likes. It’s a versatile recipe. You can also use low-fat cream cheese if you like.


⭐TIP
You don’t have to peel the potatoes if you prefer the peel. That is totally up to you. Also when the potatoes are done, you can use a masher to make it more of a soup. This is where you will leave the soup more chunky or mash it until it’s more like a soup. We prefer some chunks!

We store this in an airtight container and reheat it in the microwave or in a pan on the stove (on low heat, stirring so it doesn’t stick). This makes about 6-8 servings.


Loaded Baked Potato Soup – Crock Pot Recipe
This loaded baked potato soup is super easy to make and wonderful on a cold day!
- 6 or 7 medium to large potatoes peeled and cut into chunks
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 small onion chopped
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1.5 cups heavy cream

Add chopped potatoes, onions, chicken broth, minced garlic, salt and pepper to the crock pot.

Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6-8 or until potatoes are soft.

When the potatoes are done, add the cream cheese, cheddar cheese and heavy cream.

With a potato masher you can blend the soup leaving some small chunks. This is when you will make the soup the way you like it, chunky or more soupy.

Top with the topping you enjoy, such as bacon, cheese and chives.
